Program Description:
Experience Italy through the lens of ancient storytelling as we explore the grandeur of art through the lens of music and mass communication. This program will emphasize attendance at classical music performances, such as the opera festival held in Verona every year. Students will immerse themselves in experiential learning as they will hear performances in the cities that birthed masterpieces of musical art. As we explore the location of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet (and even view her balcony), students will learn the impact of storytelling as mass communication has impacted many audiences throughout history. Exploring select cities in northern Italy that have impacted western music and mass communication industries, students will view storytelling through a powerful lens that will highlight pivotal cultural and societal implications.
