CALL FOR FACULTY LED STUDY ABROD PROPOSALS
DUE FRIDAY, MAY 30, 2025
The Office of International Programs invites current and new faculty to submit proposals for Faculty-Led Study Abroad Programs for fiscal year 2026. Faculty leadership is vital to the internationalization of the curriculum and the educational preparation of students for an increasingly interconnected world.
These short-term programs provide international experiences for students who may not be able to participate in semester- or year-long programs, offering them the opportunity to study abroad in a familiar academic environment alongside peers and faculty from their own institution. Such programs enhance students’ global awareness by allowing them to see the world through different perspectives and explore the international dimensions of global challenges.
Students who participate in study abroad programs gain marketable skills, experience personal growth, strengthen their leadership skills, and may also develop language proficiency. Students also gain cultural competencies, equipping them to lead and contribute effectively in a globalized community that increasingly demands cross-cultural skills and knowledge.
Our current program offerings include destinations such as England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, and Spain. These programs have been highly successful, gaining academic visibility and strengthening our colleges’ international reputation. We encourage proposals that emphasize experiential learning, social responsibility, entrepreneurship, innovation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Proposals incorporating STEM fields or addressing global challenges are particularly welcome. Programs may be scheduled for Fall, Spring, Spring Break, or summer terms.
Faculty interested in submitting a proposal should contact Maria Rivera at mrivera@alamo.edu for further information.
