CALL FOR FACULTY LED STUDY ABROD PROPOSALS
FOR FISCAL YEAR 2024

The Office of International Programs invites current and new faculty to submit Faculty Led Study Abroad Proposals for fiscal year 2023.  Faculty leadership is fundamental to the internationalization of the curriculum and to the educational preparation of students for a changing world.  These short-term programs provide an international experience to students who cannot commit to semester or year-long programs, and they provide a comfortability with having students and faculty from their institution. Programs enhance students’ global awareness by allowing them to see the world from a different perspective and to understand various international dimensions to problems faced not only by a single nation.

In addition, students who participate in study abroad programs gain marketable skills, experience personal growth, learn a new language, and strengthen their leadership skills. The Study Abroad experience provides tools to prepare students to participate and lead effectively in an increasingly interconnected international community that demands cross-cultural skills and knowledge.

On-going programs include locations to England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea and Spain, which have proven to be very successful and have gained academic visibility in the colleges. We invite proposals that incorporate experiential learning, social responsibility, entrepreneurship, innovation, and courses that facilitate cross-disciplinary interaction and collaboration, especially those with a focus on STEM fields. Programs developed may be scheduled for Fall, Spring, Spring Break, or Summer.

Faculty interested in submitting a proposal should contact Maria Rivera at mrivera@alamo.edu for further information.

Proposal Submission Deadline: Friday, April 14, 2023
